St Peter’s in the water is a small village school in little puddle on the river piddle.  It is the only school in the village which is right on the river, which has often flooded in the past. The school building was originally built in the 1860’s and not too many changes have been made.  Most of the original children were from farmers and agricultural workers.  A trust was set up by Dr Peter Killingford to provide education for needy children, which covered most of the local population. Today the school remains an integral part of village life, and is well known for its loyal staff and well behaved children.
